The Remo Pinstripe Coated has a big warm attack, with a boost to the midrange and low-end. This drumhead gives excellent focus, and reduces unwanted overtones.
The Remo Pinstripe Coated is made with two plies of 7mil film, a coated top layer, and a control ring with added dampening around the edge. The two plies are glued together at the control ring and outer edge (the “overtone reducing agent”) which, as the name suggests, helps to control overtones. The result is a focused sound, with less ringing and more emphasis on the fundamental note.
The Remo Pinstripe Coated has a full and warm attack, followed by a deep warm tone. The sustain is short, and overtones are kept to a minimum. This sound is great on toms and hard-to-tune drums. In medium to higher volume situations, the Remo Pinstripe Coated performs well. The two 7mil plies allows the Pinstripe to be hit harder when needed, for increased volume. When used on toms in extremely loud environments, however, this head may get a little lost in the mix (especially with no microphones on the drum kit). For these situations, take a look at the Remo Pinstripe Clear, which has a brighter attack that will be heard even in very loud environments.
The Pinstripe can handle some heavier hitting when needed… On snare drums, the 2-ply design gives enough durability to be hit hard and produce big rimshots – your snare will come through even in high volume situations. While the coating dulls the attack slightly, the control rings give it a little boost, creating big and warm sound. The coating also gives extra snare responsiveness, especially when using brushes.
The Remo Pinstripe Coated is a great choice if you’re looking for a controlled and warm drumhead. This head gives a short, full, and warm sound, with a good focus on the fundamental note without overtones getting in the way.
