Description

Evans Calftone drumheads have a synthetic coating that gives the look and sound of calfskin. Warm and responsive, these drumheads are a great choice for low and medium volume live playing, and studio recording.

The Evans EQ4 Calftone is a single ply bass drumhead, made with one 12mil ply and a special synthetic fiber top layer. The addition of an EQ4 inlay ring helps to focus the sound more than the regular Calftone bass drumhead. Overtones and sustain are slightly reduced, creating a punchier bass drum sound.

The Evans Calftone is designed to have the look and sound of calfskin, with an added boost to the midrange and low-end frequencies. This drumhead has a warmer sound than other 12mil heads, while still giving a little brightness to the attack.

The single ply construction makes the Evans Calftone EQ4 responsive to lighter touches, and allows for a low-moderate amount of sustain. The synthetic fiber coating also helps to reduce overtones, making tuning easier.

Note: this is the Bass Drum version of the Calftone. Slightly thinner snare and tom versions are available.

Note: Evans lists the thickness as 12mil, however the addition of the synthetic fiber means this drumhead is slightly thicker.
