Description
The Evans EQ3 Clear has the attack, projection, and durability needed for louder situations, while still allowing the bass drum to resonate.
The Evans EQ3 Clear is a well balanced and versatile bass drum head. This head is made with two plies of clear 6.5mil film, with a thin inlay ring and wider removable muffle ring on the inside. Both of these features work to reduce overtones, and make this drumhead a little easier to tune. The Evans EQ3 gives more durability and projection than a single ply drumhead, and has a good amount of sustain focused slightly towards the mid and low-end. The EQ3 Clear has a strong, bright attack that is great for louder playing… Compared to the frosted version, the Clear EQ3 stands out a little more.
If you want to avoid the excessive overtones and shorter lifespan of a 1-ply drumhead, while still allowing your drums to resonate, the Evans EQ3 Clear is a great option. Leave it open to hear a longer boom, or add the included muffle ring to create a slightly shorter punch. This bass drumhead is versatile – producing a nice tone at low, medium, and high tensions.
The Clear EQ3 is slightly brighter with a little more attack than the frosted EQ3, and is great for moderate and high volume playing. For slightly less attack and a touch more warmth, take a look at the Frosted version of the Evans EQ3.
