Aquarian Modern Vintage Thin drumheads give a warm tone, a good sustain, and excellent responsiveness – perfect for low and medium volumes, and studio recording.
A single ply drumhead, made with one 7mil special-coated layer. For such a thin drumhead, the Aquarian Modern Vintage Thin has a nice warmth thanks to the unique coating applied to the topside. Designed to have the look, feel, and sound of calfskin, the coating gives a much greater emphasis to the midrange and low-end frequencies.
The Modern Vintage Thin has a good sustain that is perfectly suited for open, full sounding drums. Excellent at low and medium volumes, this drumhead will respond very well to sensitive playing with both sticks and brushes – great for giving character to performances both live and in the studio. Compared to the Aquarian Modern Vintage Medium, this version is slightly more sensitive, and gives a slightly more balanced sound (while still being fairly warm). If you’re looking for a very responsive and open drumhead, but want a warm sound, this is a perfect choice.
As a resonant tom or bass drumhead, the Modern Vintage is both a great sounding and great looking choice, giving a warmer sustain compared to other thin resonant tom heads. The unique coating on the thin single ply allows a nice moderate sustain, with good emphasis on midrange tones.
Note: The American Vintage series is the same as Modern Vintage, with a slightly larger hoop designed to fit older (vintage) drums.
