A new take on a classic drumhead. The Remo Ambassador Suede has a bright attack, and more focus on the midrange and low-end. The Ambassador Suede is available in regular, white, and black variations.
The Remo Ambassador Suede is a single ply 10mil drumhead, with a soft and smooth suede finish on top. Remo’s “suede” finish is etched into the film, giving this drumhead a textured feel on the top. The suede finish gives a brighter attack, followed by a more focused midrange and low-end sustain compared to regular Remo Ambassador drumheads. Although this is a newer addition to the Ambassador line, these drumheads would be right at home in the 1970s thanks to their warmer sound. The suede finish reduces sustain a little, however there is still plenty of room to hear these drumheads ring out.
Remo Ambassador Suede drumheads have excellent responsiveness due to the suede finish and the thinner single ply construction. Lighter articulations will come through very clearly, making these drumheads perfect for low and medium volume situations. At higher volumes, there is good projection for most situations, although it’s important to note that these drumheads will not hold up well to long-term heavy hitting.
Even though the surface is fairly smooth, Remo’s Ambassador Suede range responds well to brushes. Compared to regular coated drumheads, the Suede brush sound is less harsh and more consistent. The consistency is due to less variation (less bumps) across the drumhead’s finish. If you want to tame your brush sound, the suede range is definitely worth a try. Ambassador Suede heads will also sing when used with sticks or mallets.
Remo Ambassador Suede drumheads are available in regular, white, and black varieties, for snare drums and toms.
